Saving Damaged Teeth From Extraction

There are many reasons why tooth pain occurs. A lodged piece of food between teeth, facial trauma, and even a sinus infection can all be culprits. However, when pain radiates from deep within a tooth, an infection has likely formed. Dr. Diaz at Advanced DDS of Dallas is here to provide root canal treatment – a solution that can restore function to a damaged smile and reduce the chances of possible extraction. What Happens During a Root Canal?

The process begins with our emergency dentist in Dallas, Dr. Diaz, numbing the tooth and its surrounding area with local anesthesia. If sedation dentistry is required, it will also be provided. The tooth is then isolated with a rubber dam so that it remains dry throughout treatment. He will then make a small hole in the crown of the tooth, allowing for full access to the inner chamber, canals, and pulp.

After clearing away infected tissues and removing the pulp, the tooth is then thoroughly sanitized and filled with a solution known as gutta-percha. Once the tooth is sealed, patients can expect to return in a few weeks to receive their custom dental crown.
