Dental Checkups & Cleanings
Dr. Diaz recommends that all patients receive six-month dental checkups and teeth cleanings to keep smiles healthy throughout the year. Although brushing and flossing at home are important, these visits allow our dental team to use specialized instruments to check for any areas of decay, cavities, or gum disease. A comprehensive oral cancer screening will also be included. Once the checkup is finished, a dental hygienist will clear away accumulated plaque and tartar and give a patient’s teeth a final polish.
Fluoride Treatment
Patients who have a higher risk of cavities can benefit from fluoride treatment. It is known to protect teeth against decay as well as strengthen enamel to make it resistant to harmful bacteria. The application process takes only minutes and offers maximum protection between appointments. For young children and seniors, we use silver diamine fluoride (SDF) when cavities appear, as it is a more conservative option that is also highly effective at stopping the spread of decay and protecting teeth from future cavities.
Nightguards for Bruxism
Teeth grinding and clenching (bruxism) in Dallas is a common habit that can form because of stress or a misaligned bite. If left untreated, it can lead to temporomandibular joint (TMD) disorder, which can result in significant pain. Our team can mitigate the issue of worn-down tooth enamel and frequent headaches with a customized nightguard. Worn over the upper row of teeth, it minimizes contact between arches and offers maximum comfort throughout the night.
